Nestled in the heart of Saudi Arabia’s Western Desert, the resort is surrounded by 11,000 square miles of vast landscape including islands, beaches, deserts, mountains and volcanoes. The developers provide guests with an immersive desert adventure experience while designing the resort with a deep respect for and protection of this sacred land.
The Desert Rock Resort project is undoubtedly a bold innovation in the traditional hotel form. It is an excellent result of the cooperation between the architectural firm Oppenheim Architecture and the developer The Red Sea Development Company.
Visitors will cross a suspension bridge between the mountains to the entrance of the resort. The design is based on the concept of "harmony with the land". Oppenheim Architecture uses earth architecture techniques to perfectly integrate the building with the towering granite mountains. Viewed from a high altitude, the resort looks like a boulder naturally growing in the desert. The sandstone shows changing colors under the sunlight, which is very spectacular.
The layout of the resort's facilities is dispersed, which not only reduces the building's footprint, but also stimulates guests' interest in exploring the surrounding environment, encouraging them to explore the resort's location in depth and fully experience the charm of this land in Saudi Arabia.
The guest rooms at Desert Rock Resort are built against the mountain. The design is inspired by the architectural wisdom of the Nabateans - they are good at using rock walls to build houses to reduce direct sunlight and use the microclimate of the internal space to create a cool living environment.
These hidden rooms are almost unnoticeable during the day, but at night, the little lights shining through the rooms are like the remains of ancient civilizations twinkling in the night sky, adding a touch of mystery to the resort.
There are a total of 60 rooms in the resort, each facing the desert and equipped with an entire wall of floor-to-ceiling windows, bringing the beautiful scenery of the desert indoors. The interiors of the rooms are mainly decorated in desert tones, with richly colored interiors, creating an original yet personal atmosphere.
The public and private outdoor swimming pools built on the top of the cliff offer panoramic views of the vast surrounding scenery. At the edge of the swimming pool, you could not help but feel awe and admiration for the wonders of nature.
Desert Rock Resort is part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 plan. It is not only a destination that showcases the pristine beauty of Saudi Arabia, it is part of the natural landscape and, together with the desert, constitutes a valuable resource for generations of explorers to explore.
