Rafah Crossing is located in the southern Gaza Strip, bordering Egypt. It is the main channel for international humanitarian aid supplies to enter the Gaza Strip.

Since the current round of Palestinian-Israeli conflict broke out in October 2023, the Rafah Crossing has undertaken a large amount of transit work for humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. But on May 7th, 2024, the Israel Defense Forces issued a statement confirming that it had captured the Gaza side of the Rafah Crossing. A United Nations official said that since the outbreak of this round of conflict, Israel has restricted the release of aid supplies into the Gaza Strip, and the Israeli military has been repeatedly exposed as attacking United Nations and other aid vehicles.

Before the recent Gaza ceasefire agreement was reached, the mediators of the Gaza ceasefire had many discussions on the control of the Rafah Crossing after the ceasefire agreement was reached.

According to the latest Gaza ceasefire agreement, in the first phase of implementing the agreement, 600 trucks of supplies should be allowed to transport into the Gaza Strip every day, 50 of which will transport fuel, and 300 trucks of supplies will be transported to the northern Gaza Strip. Experts have previously warned of impending famine in the northern Gaza Strip.
