According to a report on the British Sky News website on January 17th, the Prime Minister of Qatar said that the ceasefire agreement was "Gaza's last chance" and added: "Failure is not an option."
Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani warned that "there will be no peace" without a Palestinian state, the report said.
He also criticized all parties for taking so long to reach an agreement.
In the more than 15 months since the conflict resumed, Qatar has been one of the key mediators between Israel and Hamas.
"This is our last chance to save Gaza from war," he said.
"When we talk about universal peace, ultimately, there is no peace without a Palestinian state. We need to address the root causes of the problem, not just the symptoms."
According to the report, when asked about the consequences of the ceasefire agreement breaking down, he said: "Failure is not an option. Avoiding failure is what we should all strive for."
The Qatari Prime Minister also criticized the negotiating parties for taking so long to reach an agreement, saying it was the same framework as was agreed in December 2023.
"It was basically a waste of 13 months negotiating details that were meaningless and not worth losing a life in Gaza, not worth losing a life of a hostage in the bombing."
