Amazon announced that it plans to invest US$5 billion in Mexico over the next 15 years to further strengthen its data center infrastructure in the country. AWS said part of the investment will be used to build a new AWS Mexico (Central) server region, allowing customers to run applications locally in Mexico and provide services to end users. Amazon estimates that the construction and operation of AWS Mexico will contribute approximately $10 billion to Mexico's GDP and create approximately 7,000 full-time jobs.
