Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic resigns

Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic resigns

According to a report by Russian News Agency, the National Assembly of Serbia accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Milos Vucevic on March 19th. Vucevic submitted his resignation on January 28th due to large-scale protests caused by the accident at the Novi Sad railway station.

During the National Assembly session, Speaker Ana Brnabic thanked Vucevic for his honest performance of his duties as prime minister and for his "responsible and courageous behavior," the report said. The meeting was broadcast live on the parliament's official website.

The prime minister's resignation means the entire government will move into caretaker mode and begin a 30-day period of forming a new cabinet.

According to reports, during this period, Serbian President Vucic can nominate a new head of government and submit it to the National Assembly for approval. If this is not done, the president can also dissolve the parliament and set a new election date, which can be held within a maximum of 60 days.
