ABC reported that a Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday and was investigated as a terrorist attack by the police. Tesla CEO Musk said the explosion had nothing to do with the vehicle itself.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said that when a 2024 Cybertruck drove to the hotel's glass entrance door, the truck first emitted smoke and then exploded violently.

The police pointed out that the driver died and seven others suffered minor injuries. A police officer told the ABC that the truck was equipped with a pyrotechnic-type mortar device.

Tesla CEO Musk posted on the X platform that the Cybertruck explosion was confirmed to have been caused by "large fireworks and/or bombs placed in the rented Cybertruck cargo bed" and had nothing to do with the vehicle itself.

Musk mentioned that all truck telemetry data showed normal when the explosion occurred.
