On January 20th (Monday), the inauguration ceremony of the 47th President of the United States was officially held. What changes will the next four years bring to the United States?
Let’s take a look at today’s highlights!
Highlight 1: The inauguration ceremony moved indoors
The president's inauguration ceremony was moved to the rotunda of the U.S. Capitol as an arctic blast swept the country this year, causing unusually cold temperatures in Washington, D.C.
The last inauguration ceremony held indoors was in 1985 for President Ronald Reagan.
Highlight 2: Farewell photos of Biden and his wife
Biden and his wife, Jill Biden, shared a "farewell photo of the new era" on X: a selfie outside the White House.
The caption reads: One more selfie for the road. We love you, America.
Highlight 3: The meeting of the two presidents
President Biden and his wife stood in front of the White House to welcome the new president. According to tradition, after the two presidents have a simple tea party at the White House, the outgoing president will accompany the new president to the U.S. Capitol for the swearing-in ceremony.
The vice presidents are also accompanying them, from left to right: Usha Vance, Douglas Emhoff, Vice President Kamala Harris and new Vice President JD Vance.
Afterwards, the group went to the Capitol:
Highlight 4: Ceremony hall
The presidential inauguration ceremony is scheduled to be held in the rotunda of the Capitol Building, where about 800 people are expected to witness the inauguration of the new president. In addition, 1,300 people were arranged in Emancipation Hall and 500 people were arranged in the theater of the Capitol Visitor Center.

Next came deputy J.D. Vance.
Finally, the new president officially entered the inauguration ceremony venue and cordially greeted Biden.
And kissed his wife (the hat was too big to reach her):
Highlights 8: The President is officially sworn in
The new president was officially sworn in and delivered a speech:
The theme of the president's personal inaugural speech is "restoring confidence in the United States." The president said that no matter what the circumstances, he would put America first.
He mentioned again that on the campaign trail in Pennsylvania, a bullet grazed his ear. “God’s grace saved my life and America will be great again.”
He said the U.S. government is facing a crisis of trust. Over the years, radical and corrupt vested interests have seized power and wealth from American citizens, and American society has become "almost hopelessly broken." The U.S. government cannot even respond to simple domestic crises. While it provides a steady stream of military aid to foreign countries, it cannot provide shelter to its own people.
In his speech, he also mentioned a series of executive orders that will be signed next, mainly including:
➡️ Immigration issues
The president said he would declare a national emergency on the southern border and stop all illegal immigration.
➡️ Clean energy issues
End the Green New Deal, revoke EV mandates, and save the auto industry. "In other words, you're going to be able to buy the car of your choice. We're going to get back to making cars in America at a rate that no one could have imagined just a few years ago."
➡️Inflation problem
The president said the U.S. has suffered "record inflation" under the Biden administration and that he will work to address the problem.
➡️Diversity issues
"We will create a society where color does not matter and where ability speaks. Starting today, it is the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders, male and female," the president said.
➡️ Mars Project
The president said he would plant the Stars and Stripes on Mars. Musk gave a thumbs up after hearing this.
Highlights 9: Celebrity Effect
Country singer and former "American Idol" winner Carrie Underwood will sing at the inauguration, Trump's close friend and country singer Lee Greenwood will also perform at the ceremony, and opera singer Christopher Macchio will also take the stage.
When the president was sworn in, the White House website Whitehouse.gov released a new page: "AMERICA IS BACK." And wrote: "Every day, I will fight with all my heart for you. I will not stop until we create a strong, safe, and prosperous America for our children, because you deserve it. This will be the true golden age of America."
