According to White House sources told Reuters on January 25th, 2025, the new U.S. President Trump has issued new instructions to the U.S. military, requiring them to immediately lift the ban on providing 2,000-pound bombs to the Israeli army issued by the previous Biden administration, and continue to provide such murderous weapons to Israel.
An Israeli official stated that the Israeli government had received relevant notification from the U.S. Department of Defense on January 24th that 1,800 MK-84 bombs (each weighing 2,000 pounds) sent by the United States will be loaded and shipped to Israel within days.
In May last year, the White House announced that it was suspending the supply of 1,800 bombs with a 2,000-pound load and 1,700 bombs with a 500-pound load to Israel. At that time, Biden threatened that the United States would freeze the supply of offensive weapons to Israel if Israel launched a large-scale military attack on the southernmost city of Rafah in Gaza.
Now it seems that Trump believes that it is necessary for Israel to increase its attacks on Palestine, and he no longer intends to consider the safety of civilians.
Trump posted on his own platform, Truth Social, saying that Israel had placed orders for these weapons from the United States a long time ago and had already made the payment, but the Biden administration had not shipped them. Now he has decided to ship them.
Biden and Trump are undoubtedly consistent in supporting Israel's attacks on Arab countries. However, when the Biden administration supports Israel with weapons, it may also consider limiting Israel's attacks on civilians. However, Trump has never had any concerns about this from beginning to end.
In fact, as for the origin of Hamas's "Aqsa Flood" attack on Israel on October 7th, 2023, the most important reason can be traced back to December 6th, 2017, during Trump's first presidential term. The first year, it was announced that the United States recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and soon after, the U.S. State Department moved the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in compliance with the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 passed by the U.S. Congress.
This decision of the US President has greatly encouraged Israel’s aggression against Palestine, and also greatly aroused the resistance of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas). From 2017 to 2023, the flames of resistance have been simmering in the Gaza Strip. In order to suppress their resistance, Israel has killed countless Palestinians and imprisoned up to 4900 Palestinians.
Therefore, compared to the time when the Trump administration recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, the current order to lift the ban on the sale of bombs over 2,000 pounds really pales in comparison.
Trump's return to the White House means to the Palestinians that the devil has reoccupied the capital.
Now in Washington, the capital of the United States, some civil opponents have begun to hold demonstrations to oppose the United States' continued strengthening of arms against Israel. On January 4th, 2025, more than 1,000 pro-Palestinian demonstrators marched through Union Square in San Francisco, California, protesting against US support for Israel's war against Gaza.
During the march, the protesters waved Palestinian flags and held signs calling on Israel to release Dr. Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital. However, in the United States today, when right-wing forces such as Trump, supported by blue-collar rednecks, are at their peak, it is difficult for this truly progressive movement advocating peace to have any effect.
On January 25th, local time, CNN reported that Trump said he had discussed a potential new plan with the King of Jordan to build housing and relocate more than 1 million Palestinians to other countries. He said that in his phone call with Jordanian King Abdullah II that day, he requested that more Palestinians be allowed to enter Jordan and hoped that Jordan and Egypt could provide housing for Palestinian refugees. And claimed that he would discuss this plan with Egyptian leaders.
"We're talking about 1.5 million people, and we're just going to clean it up," Trump told reporters aboard his presidential plane, Air Force One. "You know, there's been a lot of conflict here over the centuries. I don't know, something has to happen.”
The US president also added: "I would rather engage with some Arab countries to build housing elsewhere so they can live in peace for once." According to Trump, the displacement of Gaza residents could be "temporary or long-term."
The White House detailed in a brief statement that Jordan's king congratulated President Trump on his inauguration, while Trump thanked the Arab monarch for the "longstanding friendship" between the two countries.
However, once Trump's remarks were exposed, he was immediately condemned by multiple Palestinian armed factions. On January 26th, Hamas issued a statement stating that the Palestinian people are loyal to their land and oppose relocation or expulsion. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad also issued a statement condemning Trump's plan to force the people of Gaza to leave their land, which incites "war crimes" and "crimes against humanity" and denies the will and rights of the Palestinian people.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas also said that he opposed and condemned "any plan" to relocate the people of Gaza elsewhere and that the Palestinian people would not give up their sacred land. However, Abbas did not specifically criticize Trump by name in his statement.
Trump’s above-mentioned remarks, which clearly go against human conscience and political logic, were also opposed by the Egyptian government. On the evening of January 26th, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement stating that Egypt opposed any plan to relocate Palestinians elsewhere.
Therefore, it now seems that the Trump administration will most likely continue to publicly support Israel’s attacks on the Palestinian resistance. However, unlike the Biden administration, Trump will come up with a relocation plan like the one mentioned above, in conjunction with military support for Israel.
According to a report in Singapore's Lianhe Zaobao on January 25th, the United Nations agency estimated that Israel's war against Hamas has caused the Gaza Strip to set back a full 60 years, which means that all the achievements of the modernization process since the World War II had been destroyed in less than two years.
However, now the Trump administration has resumed the supply of more than 2,000 pounds of bombs to the Israeli army, which actually means that Israel’s war against the Palestinians will not actually stop, just as a new war has begun in the West Bank's Jenin area.
In the past year or so of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Jordanian King Abdullah II’s pro-Israel and anti-Palestinian attitude has been questioned by Arab countries, especially in the air strikes between Israel and Iran, which Jordan firmly opposed Iran uses its own airspace to bomb Israel; obviously, although various political factions in Palestine, as well as countries such as Egypt, have come out against Trump’s plan to relocate the Palestinians; but if the Trump administration’s plan opens an outlet in Jordan and the Jordanian king accepts the plan, or accepts negotiations over it, it is likely to be implemented. Jordan has a 97 kilometer long border with Palestine, and there are already a large number of Palestinians settling in Jordan.
Therefore, it is very likely that Abdullah II’s response to Trump’s plan will play a “decisive” role in the entire situation.
