On December 22, local time, Mexican President Sheinbaum delivered a speech, refuting U.S. President-elect Trump’s decision to list Mexican drug cartels as a terrorist organization, and emphasized that Mexico will not succumb to U.S. interference.
Sheinbaum said that as a free, sovereign, and independent country, Mexico will work hand in hand with the United States to solve public security and drug trafficking problems, but this is cooperation and coordination, not submission. Mexico rejects any form of interventionism.
Trump recently announced that he would designate Mexican drug cartels as terrorist organizations after taking office.
